About

MoveART GmbH offers inspiring multifunctional artworks that serve as social sculptures and play structures. Drawing on organic shapes, moveART brings together beauty and function to create a welcoming and inspiring atmosphere. With multigenerational appeal, moveART objects are ideal for enhancing public spaces.

MoveART is an award-winning company founded by the artist and designer Norbert Roztocki in 2015. The objects are offered in two distinct lines: Playsculptures®, designed for play and gathering, and Smartcity®, ideal for public spaces and parks. MoveART also worked in collaboration with private individuals, organizations, architects, and landscape architects to design bespoke objects that reflect the power of place and strengthen site identity.

Playsculptures® are ideal for play, including climbing, gliding, resting, and lounging. These innovative sculptures are perfect for intergenerational play, encouraging movement and connection among people of all ages. Thoughtfully crafted to inspire active engagement and foster social interaction, they transform any space into a vibrant, communal playspace where families and communities can come together to explore, relax, and have fun.

Designed for playing, sitting, resting, and more, Smartcity® social sculptures not only enliven public spaces but also add personality and charm to both new and existing areas. Crafted to integrate seamlessly into their surroundings, they offer a blend of aesthetic appeal and practical use, inviting people of all ages to interact with their environment in creative and engaging ways.

Inspired by DNA’s double helix, moveART objects represent the origin of life and its metamorphosis, creating a harmony between human beings and their surroundings by combining the key principles of art, functionality, and safety. The objects cover diverse functions and are available in a range of sizes. Bespoke sculptures are also available.

  • All moveART products are constructed using 100% ecological and sustainable Accoya-treated Radiata Pine wood, and have a minimum outdoor life span of 25 years. They are low-maintenance and resistant to vandalism.

Accoya is a 100% bio-degradable and non-toxic treatment process that involves adding vinegar to the wood, making it highly rot resistant. Thanks to its long lifespan and low carbon footprint, Accoya wood is a low climate-impact material that is Cradle to Cradle® certified and is the only construction material in the world to achieve C2C Platinum certification™ for Material Health.

  • MoveART’s multifunctional sculptures offer diverse ways to engage and interact: from sitting and lounging to balancing, climbing, and gilding. They invite users to explore movement as well as stillness. All Playsculptures® sold in the United States meet applicable playground safety standards.

  • Every moveART object is made to order and shipped directly to your installation site. All orders include logistics, shipping, import duties and fees, with shipments insured door-to-door. While APE Studio does not provide installation services, we are happy to coordinate with your team on all project details to ensure proper installation and maintenance.

Bespoke Sculptures

MoveART offers customized sculptures to perfectly fit your space, budget, and safety considerations.

Nestled on Lake Obersee in Arosa, Switzerland, moveART’s customized sculpture Arosa Wave has become an icon of the lakeside community, providing an enriching space to play, rest, and bring together people of all ages. Inspired by the Alpine silhouette, the sculpture was designed to create an intriguing, playful public space that reflects the mountains’ grandeur and attracts visitors of all ages from around the world.

Created in collaboration with Arosa Tourism, the council wanted to improve its central village square through a participative design process. The subsequent sculpture has been welcomed by everyone in the local community, and has become a central meeting point for locals as well as visitors. The council has since installed extra moveART forms and benches in the square.

With over 150 sculptures around the world, moveART’s organic appeal creates spaces that facilitate opportunities for cross-generational activity and interaction. The bespoke design process starts by defining the target market or user mix, implementing a profiling tool to create forms that facilitate specific types of human behavior, and creating the resultant multifunctional form.
